Oak Wilt Treatments - Arbor-Vax™
Texas has adopted the Trunk Injection Protocol for Oak Wilt Prevention, and Remediation. When we as Arborists become Qualified for Oak Wilt, they only teach the Injection Method.
The problem with Injections is two fold. First it doesn't get rid of Oak Wilt... It only creates a temporary Firewall at the base of the Tree for 18 - 24 months. Then you Repeat it. Sometimes a third time.
Second is the cost. It is a very slow process that is expensive if you have more than a few trees. The cost repeats every 2 years.
The History of Arbor-Vax™
About 3.5 years ago I received a call from a Not-for-Profit Ranch owner that was referred to me by an Oak Wilt outfit for some Ash trees in decline. (Some only do Oak Wilt Treatments)
While I was there, I noticed a grove of 200(?) Trees that had Oak Wilt and were in decline. The owner informed me that she had paid for Injections a little over a year ago and was not going to do it again. They were on their own this time.
I told her if she was going to let them go, I would like to try a few things I had been working on, there would be no charge but no guarantee either. She had nothing to lose.
On weekends over the next year or so I did tests on many different theories of eradicating fungal infections in Trees, and I got lucky. I found one process that consistently turned the trees around.
I was able to find a few more people in the same situation and tested the process on those properties, and it worked again. Very well. I called it Arbor-Vax™ and here we are.

Before
These are Before and After shots on the Ranch. Notice the grass is green in both pictures. This is not a Winter/Summer picture. Both of these were taken in the warm growing season. You can see how badly infected the oaks are in the top picture (Before).
